Last weekend my little one decided to act up and wanted mommy to give her all the attention. She refused to be entertained by anyone else. Its 9.00 PM Pacific Time and it was one of those days for a conference call with my development team in India. Postponing the call was an option, but with an important deadline coming up, I had to multi task.
As we are a bootstrapped startup, conference calls on Skype and with the static on the line, the differences in accent and a baby acting up, it was quite a circus act. Alternating between mute to speak mode, and try to baby talk with the little one was indeed funJ. Suffice it to say, I was able to finish the call with only a couple of cooing baby phrases thrown into my discussion with the developers.
Do you face similar issues? How do you manage the needs of a child with the demands of a business? At times I am confused whether my priorities are mixed up or whether this is a part of life we need to deal with. Ideas and suggestions are appreciated.
